The event was attended by approximately 40 participants and was started with an ice-breaking guided by duo MCs, Ms. Ocha and Mr. Fachri. This event then continued with a talk show with Mr. Amir. Talk show lasted a very exciting and involving all participants. For the starters of talk show, Mr. Amir asked participants to from groups. Each group was then given the same key questions, namely "What is the reason you learn English?"

Jogja English -- That night, Thursday, May 27, 2010, Jogja English’s living room was filled by the members who came to attend the D'Verandah Show, the activities are designed as an English Performance Show (EPS) for the month of May.  This activity was originally designed to be held on the verandah, but then moved into the living room because the weather is not possible. The theme of this event was "Let's Speak English" along with a native speaker, Mr. Amir Rostam Dokht.

Mr. Amir himself was not “a native speaker” because he was from Iran. However, he already has experience of teaching English a lot because not only his education background is English Literature but also he has long experiences in teaching English. Mr. Amir has lived in Indonesia nearly three years and is currently studying in American Studies, Gadjah Mada University.

From the discussion groups showed a wide range of answers, ranging from the wish to get a job/scholarship abroad, get a husband/wife strangers, helped their  school to get a sister-school, and so forth. Mr. Amir then concludes that in essence, learning English is because we want to be a "great" person. We can learn a variety of cultures/traditions, literature, and ideas from various countries around the world by using languages, especially English.

Questions and answers progresses, the questions flow from the participants. This moment is also used as an opportunity to practice their English proficiency. They seemed so enthusiastic ask many questions to Mr. Amir, ranging from tips on how to learn English effectively to the experiences of Mr. Amir for exploring several countries in the world, including Indonesia. Talk to a friendly style and full of humor also make participants feel at home for long doing interviews with Mr. Amir.

Two hours passed unnoticed. Finally the show closed with a special appearance. If normally the members who perform the performance, so this times the instructors and staff provide surprises in their performances. The instructors and staff perform percussion music performances with improvised tools, such as gallons of mineral water, jars, and pots. They invite the participants who came to sing and dance together. Splashy atmosphere is created.

This EPS is not only stop that night but will still continue at the next EPS activities, namely English Camp. Bravo Jogja English!
