On December 31, 2012, we celebrated 2013 New Year’s Eve together at Jogja English building. All staffs, instructors, and members were invited to that event. Members here included all active members, non-active members (ex-members), and English Home members. As the main agenda was to celebrate 2013 New Year’s Eve, so the activities prepared were all done before 00:00. While waiting for the 00:00, we had a lot of fun by playing English games. The games were all related to English words, that’s why the name of the activity was “Drizzling Words Competition.”

However, probably because we named the activity as a ‘drizzling’ activity, so it was drizzling outside when we played the games inside Jogja English building. Hehehe… L.O.L

The agenda was started at 7.30 p.m., officially opened by two incredible hosts, Gilang Ramadhan and Iga Larasati. It was continued by a welcoming speech by the person in charge of that event, Setya Putri Rahayu. Then, the hosts divided the participants into three groups. Each group consisted of staffs, instructors, active members, non-active members, and English Home members. The members of each group were chosen randomly, so that everyone could mingle well with anybody. No exception!

The first thing each group should do was presenting the group’s yel-yel. All groups presented the yel-yel spiritfully, despite the freezing weather and some were wet soaked by the drizzling rain. The yel-yel competition was such a warming up for everyone that very night!

Then Ucup (M. Yusuf Hidayatullah) guided us to play the first word game. It was called The Spelling Bee. We had to spell some words in group. Each person might only say one letter of the word. The winner of the spelling bee was group 1. The second game was mime game that was guided by miss Hayu (Putri Hayu Austina). She asked one representative of each group to act out a certain word and asked the rest of the members to guess the word. It was really interesting as the representative of each group acted the words crazily. We all laughed loudly. The winner was group 2.

The last game we played was keyword game. We were guided by Anggi. We had to guess the word from the keywords given by other friends in the group. It was so challenging as we might not repeat a word that had already been mentioned by other friend. The winner was group 3.

Each group won each game, so no one being the best winner. There was only one best and solid group, which was group 1. We also chose the most active member, Ni’matuzzahra. Before delivering the prize for the most active member and the best group, there was a drama performance from children who lived around Kledokan (Jogja English building). They performed as they had just finished joining Kids Holiday Program in Jogja English.

The kids’ performance was so entertaining as they acted shyly in English on the stage. However, we enjoyed it a lot as they prepared the drama well, including the property and costumes.

The rain got harder when we closed the activity. However, we ended up 2012 happily in togetherness in Jogja English.

Happy New Year 2013
