Some people in red t-shirt run here and there with a random direction attracting other Vredeburg Fort visitors’ eyes to be curious. Certainly, they were looking for something. The something must be precious since they seemed to ignore the tiresome which was clearly seen from the sweat that burst from their skin and the gasping breath.

Randomly, some group run along the isle of the fort, some of them went up and down the stair, and some of them seemed to be settled in a kind of place which called post solving a kind of mysterious puzzled seriously. Then, after fighting head over heels with the codes or clues, the smile and laugh burst when finally they solved it. “Yeay!!” was something very common after they collected a piece of jumbled pictures which they would get in each post to get what I called as something precious; the treasure. Indeed, there we had a mission in Vredeburg Fort while having a little vacation; we called it as treasure hunt. It was held on December 6th, 2014 to commemorate the National Heroes Day which actually took place on November 10th.  It was cool, right? We were like Jack Sparrow in Pirates of Caribbean only without ship to across the sea and we also did not wear ripped clothes. We wore something in red because our spirit was burning like the heroes to fight for the freedom. This treasure hunt was part of event call English Performance Show (EPS) held every month with different topics and activities by Jogja English.

Like almost an hour the participants of treasure hunt tried to collect the jumbled pictures before the others, so that they had a chance to win the game. It seemed like it was not really easy for them to be the first because they really competed each other vigorously. They had the same idea: winning the game. It was just like what Bung Tomo said, which also became the theme of the Event, Rawe-rawe rantas, malang-malang putung which can be interpreted in English as “Everything that hinders intents and purposes should be destroyed”.

However, game is game, whatever it takes, there must be the winner and there must be just one. Finally, the moment of truth was unveiled; we got the winner as the fastest group to solve the puzzled. As a matter of fact, some of you probably had already known the winner if you joined the event. The group which deserved to be the winner was Pattimura.

Was that all? Fortunately it was not. Surprisingly, instead of the main winner, there was also most favourite group which was the most solid one. Frankly, to decide the most favourite group was not easy since each committee of the event had his/her own favourite team. After a few moments arguing, then finally the most favourite group went to Cut Nyak Dhien group. The other winner was Arshad Rahmandani who was awarded as the member of the month. The award was achieved due to his progress during learning English in Jogja English.

Announcing the winner meant the treasure had already been found out; the real Jack Sparrow had already been known. In other words, it meant that the treasure hunt was over. Truly, good time flew fast. However it did not end that way. Since it was digital era, taking photo together was a must before going home to prove that we were exist.

Finally, see you soon. Keep learning, keep up the beat, and rock on.
