On January 6, Jogja English held an interesting EPS which took place at the living room of Jogja English office. That competition was held in the evening. Not only members but also all of the instructors joined that event so the room was crowded at that time. We gathered happily because we could meet and know one another. The EPS was named “Drizzling Competition”.

This competition had a main purpose, which is to improve our English capability especially for vocabulary enrichment. As we know, studying vocabulary is very important for people who want to learn English.

There were many games conducted in this competition such as spelling word, synonym- antonym, etc. The first, committee divided the participants into six groups, and each group consisted of 4 till 5 people. This competition was led by Miss Ocha. Before she started the game, she introduced the judges. They were Mr. Ahwy, Miss. Novi, and Mr. Dani. All of the judges are the Jogja English instructors. Afterwards, she gave us an opening game and the member who was lost in that game would get punishment to flatter her. I thought it was great warming up. After the opening game had done, Mr. Fachri continued the competition by the first game. That game named “Spelling Bee”. But we had to spell it together with our group. Each round, 2 groups will compete to spell the word correctly. Mr. Fachri just said the word and after that we spelled the word letter by letter. Actually it’s not really difficult but sometimes we’re confused because we spelled it one by one.

The second game was presented by Miss Setya. In this game we played about pantomime or “Mime Game”. It’s more difficult than before because Miss Setya just gave a word to one of the members of each group, and he or she tried to convey the word by gesture. It’s so funny game but sometimes feels so ridiculous.

The third was Miss Menur’s turn to present the other game. The game is about the clue (Keyword Game). It’s same as the second game but the answerer only one person and the other would convey the word by saying the clues. It’s the easiest game so all of the group could pass this game easily.

The last, it’s time for Mr Anam, in that game we played about synonym and antonym. Mr. Anam gave words and he would ask the antonym or the synonym of those words. But we had to answer by writing in the paper as soon as possible. It’s the most exciting game. It’s not only about the right answer but also we had to have good speed to answer.

Finishing all of the games, the committee announced the result of competition. There were several categories that were announced. There were the winner group, the most favorite Group, the most favorite instructor and the most active member.

The winner group is the group A, because they got the highest score for all of the games. The most favorite group was group E and the most favorite instructor was Miss Ocha, all of them were chosen based on the voting. In that night I was so lucky because I was chosen as the most active member. I hope it can motivate me to study more about English. After the announcement, the committee gave the prizes. Yeah, as usual they gave a lot of food and snack. We were so happy.  I hope Jogja English will make the other EPSes which will be more interesting for us. I think in Jogja English we get not only the English but also many friends and wonderful experiences. And the most important one is that we are like a family here. Thanks Jogja English.
